Blueprint Fundamentals

  • Types of Building Plans:
    • Floor plans
    • Elevations
    • Sections
    • Site plans
  • Common Elements:
    • Title block (project name, scale, date, drafter info)
    • Legends and symbols
    • Revision blocks

Understanding Floor Plans

  • Orientation (north arrows, scale, compass directions)
  • Walls, doors, and windows (how they’re represented)
  • Room labels and dimensions
  • Basic electrical/plumbing symbols

Elevations & Sections

    • What they show (height, façade, materials)
    • Reading vertical dimensions
